| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The acuArmor.com STANDARD model Kevlar Insert is designed to fit into the knee and elbow pockets that are standard in the new Military Uniforms - ACUs (Advanced Combat Uniform). They fit both ACU trousers and ACU shirts in all sizes in addition to fitting most TRU uniforms with integrated knee/elbow pad pockets. The Inserts can be used with or without the Military issue foam-rubber pads or most after-market pads.
Designed with 5 layers of battlefield tested Kevlar (2 cut/fragment resistant layers and 3 puncture resistant layers) these pads are designed for environments like battlefields, where razor wire, metal and concrete shards, wooden slivers, broken glass and flying fragments are a given. Perfect for Military, Special Forces and SWAT where knee and elbow protection is a requirement. Ideal for EMS, Rescue and Fire personnel where hazardous crash sites and exposure to blood-transmitted diseases are a constant threat. Also a huge advantage for Police and Security where low profile/non-threatening dress and high risk situations go hand in hand. More comfortable than slide-on knee pads, they stay in position no matter what you do. They are much cooler, don't create skin rashes and don't interfere with the IR pattern of ACUs. Flexible and silent, they are invisible once inserted in the pockets.
Up to 90x more cut resistant and 45x more abrasion resistant, these inserts also provide significant puncture resistance (they'll bend nails without penetration), protection from flying fragments and hot surfaces.
Whether you work in a high risk environment or are looking for the perfect gift for a loved one or friend who does, these Kevlar Inserts are a must-have.

| Customer Reviews: They work, but may not fit well October 1, 2009 Ray Miller (Jacksonville, FL USA) I used these with Skydex inserts (NOTE: contrary to alternate view photos, foam inserts are NOT included with these). The Skydex pads are a snug fit, but extend almost 1/2 inch above the pocket openings on both these standard and the lite version of the Kevlar inserts. They fit very tightly in my digital woodland camo BDU pants with internal pad pockets, but hang a little low in the standard army digital ACU pants with external access, velcro pad pockets (more the location of the ACU pants than the inserts). They were way too long for the elbow pockets in the digital woodland camo top, & had to be turned sideways to fit. It works, but makes the elbows quite wide and bulky. Perhaps triming the Skydex pads would help some, but the Kevlar inserts would still have to be inserted sideways.
On the other hand, functionally, with the Skydex pads, they do a great job of protecting your knees/elbows.
It really works - really well. November 20, 2007 Lee 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Fast shipping. Easy to use. I put them in my ACUs and don't take them out. Nothing to put on or take off.
No more rashes from the stupid straps on the hard pads and they're a *lot* cooler since there aren't any straps to cinch your sleeves and legs closed to air flow. Do a great job insulating from hot surfaces.
Flexible, quiet, they don't slip around and I don't have to worry as much about where I land when the crap hits the fan. These are good for elbows, but use the Extreme model for knees.
Personnally, I'd rather go home with both knees and both elbows working. As the saying goes, it's cheap insurance at any price. And the price ain't that bad. Now if only they were standard issue...
