Awesome book! May 29, 2010 Cindy Monalisa Lengkong (RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA, US) This book was by far, one of Lupica's bests. When I read this, I actually wanted to read this more than watch tv! It's a good book, especially if you love basketball!
An amazing book to say the least February 10, 2010 chuck (glen ridge, NJ) This book about Danny not making the travel team because he was to small is a great story. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, but personally i loved it. I reccomend this book to any book fan.
worst written book I have ever read January 5, 2010 H. Washington (usa) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is horrible. I have never read a book this bad before in my life. My children thought that this book was lousy and after reading it I must agree with them 100%!!!!!!! Don't waste your time or money.
A Review for Travel Team by Mike Lupica March 28, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is the first book that I've read that I've want to read its sequel, which is, by the way, Summer Ball, another great book. Anyway, the book is about a kid named Danny who absolutely plays his heart out for basketball, but isn't allowed to play for his town's basketball team because he is too short. So, his dad, who happens to be a former NBA player who got injured in a car accident, decides to create another team with Danny. At the start, the team does horrible, but as time goes on, little by little, his team improves.
I don't want to spill the whole story for you because it'll just defeat the purpose of buying this book, which is something you SHOULD do. Do yourself a favor and buy this book, especially if you have a kid in your house who never touched a book before and who happens to be interested in sports. Trust me, he will be hooked in this book. Why? Because this book revolves all around sports. The author of this book, Mike Lupica, has earned a reputation of writing great sports books.
This book deserves a 5-star rating and I would recommended to boys aged 9-13 that enjoy playing sports.

Danny Walker has a love for the game a basketball. In a couple of days 7th grade travel basketball tryouts begin and Danny's trying to make the team so he said he is going to practice hard so he can do it.
Danny is a good basketball player and he wants to be the best. He said though 7th grade tryouts are coming and and just because he thinks he thinks he's going to make it he still has to practice hard.
Danny wants to make the team really bad he said he's feeling nervous and sick to his stomach.
Danny and his dad are alike they both love basketball. Danny is trying to prove that he can play the game even though he's smaller then some other people. Danny's dad was a pro basketball player until he got in a car crash and had a serious injury.
Danny maybe the smallest kid on the court but no one has a bigger love for the game. The coach for the team Danny's trying out for is the 7th grade basketball travel teams coach. He thinks that Danny's is too small to make the team but Danny and his dad are out to prove him wrong. The coach cuts Danny for the wrong reasons its because of Danny's size.
Danny and his dad form their own team of players to contend with the team that cut Danny. Danny and his dad were trying to for fill there dream..
The genre is fiction . What I like about the book is Danny never gives up and he keeps on going and working hard to achieve what he is trying to do.
The theme in this story is to never give up no matter what size you are.
